Name: Kacy Paide
Location: Rock Creek Gardens neighborhood of Silver Spring, Maryland
I am an Office Organizing Expert who spends her days organizing DC's messiest offices. I always describe my home as "Mid-Century meets Southeast Asia." I'm proud of each room's perfect balance between these two genres.
My first trip to Bali in 2001 forever shaped my design sense. I just had to recreate that mood a world away in suburban DC. It wasn't until taking a part time job at Design Within Reach that I started layering styles. Collecting furniture at a discount has become a sport, if not an obsession. It's almost as if I score more points the steeper the discount.
My home is my favorite place to be and I'm so excited to finally introduce it to Apartment Therapy readers after living here for 5 years. Can you tell I also make terrariums?
Thanks, Kacy!

LOVE IT! Serene and livable and elements that I will always love like sky lights, lofts and spiral stairs. YAY!

I love your home. My boyfriend is Balinese and keeps trying to get me to incorporate some of his artwork into our home but I just could never figure out how. Our place right now is very fifties inspired. This really helps me to see that the two can be combined. Thanks!

Your home is indeed a perfect balance of Mid Century meets Southeast Asia. It seems very welcoming and comforting and neat. My style is kind of Mid Century meets bourgeois slightly-Afrocentric, but I have not achieved the level of cohesiveness that you have. It's a very nice inspiration.

Great fusion of two styles. Looks like you've made the most of the space without making it look cluttered. Nice photos, too!

wow- i would LOVE to see more! i find that ethnic ecclectic (which is what we love) can get very cluttered and you've mastered the style without cluttler. great job.

I love your place! Start with beautiful architecture and skylights and add your simply elegant style and sprinkle in a couple gorgeous pieces (cowhide lounger!) and you have a cohesive sanctuary. Thank you for sharing and I can tell you are proud of your accomplishment and you should be.

Love what you've done. Question: I've been looking for a wood panel like the one above your sofa. I assume it's Balinese...any sources you know of in this part of the world? Thanks!

Beautiful! The colours in the living room strike a perfect blend.

Way to combine the two inspirations and to make your home unique. I love how the furniture compliments the artwork.

Thank you to everyone for your comments! It makes me happy that it's been so well received.
Designporn, the panels are actually Thai. You can buy the exact same one at vivaterra.com, but years ago I stalked ebay until I found the exact same one for a fraction of the cost. It doesn't look like the seller is still on ebay, so just search for "Thai teak panel."

Kacy's space IS as cozy and together as it seems. It not just for the pics, folx...so while you're at it, schedule a session with her (The Inspired Office).

Beautiful decor!
May I ask where you got the bed and cool lamps above it? I've been hunting for an interesting platform bed for a while now with no luck. Thanks!

GenevaLand, the bed is from Muleh on 14th St. in DC
(via Craigslist). It is the Neo Primitive bed by Warisan in Indonesia. It is made from reclaimed teak.

The sconces on the wall are Nelson and can be found at www.modernica.net.
Glad you like them! I slept on a mattress on the floor for 3 years until I could have my dream bed. Well worth the wait.
