How To: Create a Thomas Wold-Like Shelving Unit

090809 wold shelving unit.jpgEver since we took in Thomas Wold's exhibit at The Curiosity Shoppe a while back, we've had a healthy obsession with the artist's collaged furniture. His column in Readymade Magazine, Solid Wold, is also a great source for crave-worthy projects, and this month is no exception. Check out his instructions for creating a shelving system like the one shown here...

The design takes shape.
Start by collecting any loose pieces of furniture you'd like to repurpose - either items around your home or perhaps from a visit to the dump. After that Wold makes it sound surprisingly easy, though we'd bet it takes a certain knack to arrange the pieces for that "controlled chaos" look. You can find the full directions for making a shelving unit like this here, via Readymade Magazine, and learn more about the process at Thomas Wold's blog.
