I know a friend of mine who did surrender to her inner design voice and picked up an ole characteristic barrel on a street just outside a Chinatown restaurant in Victoria. All it needed, afterall, was a good scrub-down and some nice decorative casters. It is now a très funky and cool side table!
So fun to have an eye for something inconspicuous... and the creative knack to turn it into a unique treasure.
Someone on eBay sells hairpin legs for a bit less.
Re price, be aware that Ians' legs are stainless steel. Far superior to the vintage iron/steel legs you see on ebay. I've used his stainless hairpin legs and they are superb.

Victoria, that is EXACTLY what I was thinking of, it would class up my Expedit (which I am going to get someday) to no end. What a find!
No relationship with whomever is selling hairpin legs on eBay, BUT...they are listing 4 14" STAINLESS STEEL legs for $59, and Ian is offering 4 12" legs for $104.
For my math, I'll take the less expensive legs.
as for the stainless legs for less, it reads "hairpin legs stainless steel FINISH". (silver paint)

Does anyone know if the hairpin legs will scratch a wood floor?
I want to put them on an Ikea countertop and turn it into a desk.
they do not scratch wood floors, but they do dent them sometimes depending on the wood... i have 2 ways around this. one way is to add a small section of rubber tube to the base of the leg. the other is to build them with a small metal disk welded to the bottom and add a nylon pad to that.

In addition, Ian's legs can be fabricated to any size and shape. The guy on eBay only has one shape (which is not the shape I need).
