How To: Move Without Losing Your Mind (Part Three)

10-19-moving.jpgThis is the third in a series of tips about moving in the Bay Area.

Parking Permits:
Parking large vehicles in the city poses its own set of problems. San Francisco DPT can give tickets of anywhere from $250 to $700 for double parking. The San Francisco Police Department can be contacted directly to arrange for temporary no parking signs to be placed at the loading and/or unloading site. Depending on the sites and the space, it will cost anywhere from $130 to $200.

Our moving company insisted on us getting parking permits so we shelled out the cash (I think it was $160 for each of two permits) and then the parking & traffic dept didn't even put them in the right place! They were useless and I wish we had kept our cash.
