We know you sew. Because we get plenty of entries when we give away sewing-related items. So we thought we'd share this little project that we're planning to undertake in our own home this holiday season. The inspiration? The Anthropologie store display above.
If you can sew a straight line, you can handle this. Take your old holiday cards, obselete calendars, magazines, catalogs, etc., and cut shapes out of them. Then just stitch a line through them to connect them. In a matter of minutes, you'll have a one-of-a-kind and eco-friendly garland. Bonus: By recycling paper from around the house, you'll be getting rid of some clutter, too!
We've actually tried this in the past, but usually with paper circles. This year, we're definitely going to borrow Anthropologie's idea of using snowflakes.

If you want one display that you can use from year to year, you can cut your snowflakes out of scraps of fabrics and clothes bound for the trash heap; those ones too cruddy for donation. Add in some of these paper ones each year and discard those when the season ends. Trust me, they won't be worth unpacking by next year.

Well, their displays are consistently great! I often spend more time looking at them than the actual clothes and stuff.
