Name: Alglatiotis
Location: Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada
Time: It was a One Weekend Project completed on saturday and sunday
Cost: inspired by a chair that was very similar but $1700, we seeked out our chair at local thrift store, Value Village for $9.99 + we lucked upon a 50% off sale and got fabric and batting for $40.00 + stain we found bought for $13 and sandpaper for $5 = Grand Total $68
This is remarkable. Algy took a super super cheap chair and totally transformed it. This is a total DIY redesign. Head below the jump for all her pics, tools, and instructions and VOTING...

BEFORE
Tell us the tools and resources you used for the project:
• Tools: electric staple gun , pliers, hammer, screwdriver, electric palm sander, handy husband
• Resources: Value Village (chair) Fabricland (fabric & batting) Rona Home and Garden (stain)

MY TOOLS
Share step by step instructions for how you completed the project:
• Find a great chair in need of some love.. we found ours at Value Village for $9.99
• Seek out fabric (and batting for seat cover) that rings a bell with your inner design love.
• Visit local hardware store for stain, we used la maison Saman water based wood stain, mixing 2 different colors black and raspberry to get a deep rich color.
• Dismantle chair, removing arms legs etc. Using your pliers or screwdriver remove all staples from fabric . Strip chair naked.
• Using Palm sander, sand off all pre-existing finish from all wood parts.

DURING
• Stain all sanded wood parts
• Cut out appropriate amount of batting for seat and backrest
• Wrap and staple seat and back with batting ... trimming leftover remnants
• Cut out desired fabric to appropriate sizes, again wrapping seat, then staple and trim. Repeat with backrest
• Once wood stain has dried reassemble chair
• Sit and Enjoy!

AFTER
I love the colors. That would match my room. Good job. =)

This is pretty! I kind of wish you had included the photo of what had been your inspiration. But then again, if it was just your jumping-off point, then people might be judging against that. BUT... they might like yours better than your inspiration. Any way you slice it, this looks great.

The two "after" pictures are different. Is the first the inspiration chair?

hey luz, no same chair just different angles... the inspiration chair we saw out at a groovy store here in Kelowna but didn't have my camera with me. Kickin' myself now.. wish I would've got a shot.
cheers, Amy
